The Olde Town

Last I wrote, our little rig was sitting idle in Lisbon Falls, Maine, for a couple of days. With further introspection, it was a welcome respite. And one which proved to be an open door to an unexpected delight. Because no great loads were popping up coming or going, we decided we may as well be touring another bucket list item: Boston, Mass.

The Cradle of Liberty was no disappointment, as we got to walk where our Founding Fathers and American Revolutionary heroes walked. I could have done that for days! It became very personal for me when we were able to tour the church which houses the family crypt of John Adams. For Hubs, I think he’d say he enjoyed it all, but was very excited to see The Green Monster (Fenway Park, of course). We didn’t actually get on the field because the Red Sox were playing a double header, which we would’ve L⚾️VED to see, but had no idea we’d be there at the time. All in all, it was a great adventure. Next time, we’ll be cheering from the stands or going to a game at TD Garden!

Built in 1731, the Old House at Peace field became the residence of the Adams family for four generations from 1788 to 1927.

"Make Way for Ducklings", by Robert McCloskey, is highly significant to Boston, as the story is deeply embedded in the city's culture and identity. This ice cream truck has one of my favorite sketches from the book painted on it. 📚

And so concluded our first trip to Boston. It was a complete success, and has us ready to return. The only thing that might be better for us, is to get back there in a smaller vehicle. Those older, narrow streets are a bit difficult to navigate in a dually pick up! 😬

We're anxious to see what loads may open up the road ahead next!  Hope to see you here!
