We made our 11am appointment next morning & after strapping down these tall monster pieces for snow plows we were on our way back to Rochester, NY.
Our day consisted of beautiful roadways that were becoming familiar. The rolling hills and abundance of greenery and massive trees will always be a stunning sight to see. We made our way around the western curve of Lake Erie, into Ohio, a bit of Pennsylvania, and finally into New York, with what I personally considered a necessary pit stop: ππ»
Our last stop, a little further down the interstate, was at a TA truck stop near Rochester. Hubs & I found a bite to eat and settled in to watch Master Chef. This season allowed couples to compete with other couples. We'd been watching from the beginning, and now the season was drawing to a close. Drama filled. Exciting! π
The snow plows were successfully delivered, giving us a little time to drive around Rochester before receiving our next rate confirmation on a new load. I spotted a large wheel standing on a corner, and instantly went to work sleuthing.
(Always keep your eyes peeled for something that intrigues you and educate yourself. It adds the spice to life.)
The water wheel once powered a forge and later a factory that produced Rochester's first fire engines.
Our very next pick up would be in Elmira, NY, about an hour and a half away, and was going to a little suburb of Pittsburgh. π
As it wasn't due for delivery until Monday morning, Hubs reserved 3 nights at Wingate in Cranberry, PA, to reset & wait out the weekend. I never have objected to a nice hotel stay. π
By Monday afternoon, we'd already picked up pipes and were on our way toward Warren, Rhode Island.
The beauty carried us all day with breathtaking views, passing by NYC after dark. I love the sparkling lights of nightlife. Even with the distance, it was clear to see the Big Apple was still bustling.
If you're going to zigzag around our fabulous country, I highly recommend New England, again and again. We finally stopped for the night in Greenwich, RI, and when morning came, we were making our way through beautiful Providence.
Little did we know that a 2 hour wait is what we'd hurried for. Sometimes that's the unfortunate reality. However, it's also easy to see the silver lining in most of the scenery we find ourselves in.
AND that day was Jax's 2nd birthday, so we needed the time to play with him and give him his little surprises! π πΆ πΎ
He was very happy to receive a new bone and a light-up bouncy ball! π Plus, we got to tell him how famous he was becoming. Ok, maybe that was for me. Awhile ago I had sent in pics of Jax to try to win his place in a coloring book.
Drum roll, if you will.....
May I present.....
But we already knew he was a winner! π€π€π€
Then......no loads. Every inquiry ended up covered before we could even get a foot in the door. So we decided to start driving towards Albany in the hopes that we’d have better loads to find tomorrow.
Stay tuned, and see if our plan worked out for us. π€·βοΈ
