You Know How You Do

Our delivery near Detroit would be dropped off later on one pleasant morning. In the meantime, I had been enjoying some new sights on the way, and managed to get a few pics. Of course, we added to the Scrapbook Of Stadiums! 🏟️

Progressive Field: Home of the Cleveland Guardians. πŸ‘†πŸ»

Cleveland carried us closer to drop off.

We also saw a very unique building: Cleveland Public Power Plant. The mural, titled "Song of the Whales," was painted by artist Wyland and is part of a series of 100 murals to raise awareness for ocean conservation. 🐳

We got into a video chat from the Littles and their mama, and got to meet the new addition to the family: meet Miss Beans. She's an adorable, fiesty, lovable kitty who wandered up and adopted our daughter. In turn, it was decided that she could also be a birthday present for our granddaughter, Elianah Rose. 🌹πŸ₯°

As we inched our way into Detroit, Hubs spotted another place he'd like to visit.

Ford Field: home of the Detroit Lions

It was an overcast day, and the skies were a perfect filter for some great photos.

I spotted an absolutely gorgeous church! St. John Episcopal Church stood proudly beside the interstate.

Before long, we made it to our drop off and then parked right next door to await further plans. I let Jax have a little freedom to stretch his legs.

He's quite proud, himself. 🐢. Rightfully so. He's very handsome, isn't he?  And such a Good Boy!! πŸ€ŽπŸ€πŸ–€

As we sat, I also had a conversation with our middle daughter, Emily (aka Em, Emilita, Emmy Kay). She had just gotten another tattoo. She and her sweet hubby, Gabriel (aka Gabe πŸ˜‰), enjoy getting tats. Hubs & I have one each. πŸ˜‚. I told Em she is a blooming garden. πŸ’“

I was beginning to get Deja Vu. We sat by the side of the road waiting for loads to come available for an hour or more. Dispatch was making no more headway than Hubs was able to make. Eventually he surprised me and said he was actually just going to make a hotel reservation, where we could get relaxed and sleep in a bed!  I had no opposition. I knew he was totally exhausted. Driving through the downpour the night before, only to be stressed by losing our reserved spot at Pilot, had made for a rather challenging trip. As the sole driver in our little enterprise, he not only deserved rest, but desperately needed it. My respect for him is as deep as his desire to care for me. ❀️

Welcome to our little overnight hideaway. We unpacked, showered, sipped on coffee while deciding on supper, and finally ordered some Chinese food from Panda Express (aka The Panda! 🐼). We point them out to one another every single time we pass one. πŸ˜‚

Beyond scarfing down noodles and Rangoon, I knew Hubs would be sawing logs before my hair was even dry from the shower.  I had my own ideas for the evening.

Even out on the road, maybe Especially out on the road, self care is vital. Just as Hubs needed sleep, I needed some downtime for myself.

That night's recharging ritual would include a romantic flick. Hubs gets what Romance is. He's affectionate and showers me with kindness, care, sweet surprises, and compassion.  But I'm not sure he totally gets why I swoon over Love, itself. Why I enjoy a good cry. Why at times I need to rewatch a favorite show or movie for the umpteenth time.  πŸ˜‚. Poor man. He tries. He really does. But to let him off the hook, I often take advantage of his early bedtimes to get a good dose of mental repose.

Tonight's Movies & Munchies would begin with "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". Don't miss out on a terrific opportunity for entertainment based on the rather unique title. Lol It was at least the 5th time I’d seen the movie & plan to watch again someday. I highly recommend it for a drama filled romance movie, which is also historical fiction (3 of my favorite things!). Literature, love, windswept beaches. What’s not to love? ❀️

Superb cast!

In the aftermath of World War II, a writer forms an unexpected bond with the residents of Guernsey Island when she decides to write a book about their experiences during the war. Then she learns the secret they are afraid to reveal.

The rest is up to your viewing. Trust me! πŸ₯°

Next on the agenda, while waiting for my hair to dry,  and enjoying my movie selection, I was giving myself a French tip manicure. Years ago I'd gone to get mani's done with Mom for 'our' weekend. (My birthday falls on my parents' wedding anniversary, 2 years after the fact. πŸ₯°). I couldn't tell you exactly why, but after those acrylic nails came off, my own nails were very fragile. They hadn't even been covered for very long. It took years for them to strengthen again. Just recently (actually when getting mani's done with 2 of our girls the last time we were home) I realized how much stronger they suddenly seemed again. So, I was trying to keep them that way.

When my hair finally dried completely I decided to straighten it. I was just enjoying so much the quiet moments of pampering myself a little. You know how you do.

I propped myself up on the bed to enjoy the rest of the movie, when Hubs suddenly woke up. He's usually a pretty sound sleeper. He just told me he loved me and lay there a bit longer with his eyes open. Next thing I knew we were tearing into a bag of brown butter and sea salt popcorn. He was actually enjoying the end of the movie with me, and we made a quick end of the popcorn. 🍿

By then it was getting a little late, and we had an appointment to pick up a nearby load in the morning. We snuggled up with Jax at our feet, and both ended up sawing those logs in no time at all. πŸ’€

Rest easy and join us on our next load.  πŸ€“
